Butter Tandoori Chicken – Big Belly Canteen

#MadeToOrder
@Big Belly Canteen

So Dimple had given me advance notice of sambar dosa being tonight’s dinner, and the 50% Punjabi in me had made plans for an after dinner snack because I knew sambar dosa would not suffice.

Called up my dear friend Jitin Ahuja yesterday itself and requested that he make something that wasn’t on the menu yet. He offered to make Butter Tandoori Chicken, and I agreed without hesitation.

The dish arrived within 30 minutes of placing the order. The food was piping hot, two neatly packed boxes containing four pieces each.

Butter Tandoori Chicken is different from the regular variant in the sense that after the chicken’s stay in the tandoor, it is literally bathed in a gravy of cashews, curd, butter and other spices. One bite of the chicken and I knew I was going to love it, and I did. The chicken was perfectly marinated and cooked. Mildly spiced chicken served perfectly. Even my 7 yo who isn’t that fond of chicken gorged on it.

All in all, a satisfying meal. Sorry for the bad picture quality, don’t have the patience to click pictures.

Price is Rs, 509 for the full portion, sufficient for 2.5 pax.

Edit: The remaining 50% is pure Managalorean Saraswat Brahman

A Box of Chocolates? No, you Dumb Ass it’s the Check!

As out time to leave Hyderabad approaches, we were keen to visit the ones that we haven’t visited till now. Dimple suggested 70 MM and that’s where we were headed, with Binoy and Nimmy who had agreed to spend thei5r Saturday evening with us. For the ill-informed, 70 MM is located on Necklace Road and is owned by the Ohri’s group of Hotels, who already have about 15 eateries in the city.

What welcomed us was a spacious campus which had the breeze from Hussain Sagar lake flowing through it. The Ohri’s management always likes to theme their eateries, 70MM was no different and it was based on the Bollywood theme. On stepping inside we were welcomed by a mannequin of Helen in her all revealing outfit, right opposite to an Amitabh Bachchan mannequin replicating that famous scene from “Amar, Akbar, Anthony” when he appears out of an egg shell. The walls were lined with posters from Bollywood movies of yesteryear’s.

A Foodie’s Nightmare: Kabura Hyderabad

Being away from our hometown, we hardly have a friend circle to spend our weekends with. So more often than not, we end up at one restaurant or the other. As with restaurants elsewhere, we have mixed feelings; we’ve had stupendous meals at places such as Ohri’s Jeeva, Grill Room, 100 Degrees, Pickles, Our Place etc. In the same breath, we’ve had the grave misfortune of wasting our time, money, and appetites at places such as Havmor, Nanking, Okra, Serengetti, and the one we visited tonight for dinner, Kabura.
